Thanks, Nate, for this piece. As a musician at heart, and in much of my career (shared later with culinary arts, but there is a logical extension to that), I appreciate the references to the "deep pursuit of perfection" and the "path of trying to attain the unattainable". The biggest thing music has taught me, besides joy, is the skill of listening, adapting, holding others (in an ensemble) up, achieving, ultimately, something greater than the sum of its parts.
